The General Directorate of Technological Innovation (DGIT), attached to the Ministry of Economy, Commerce, Technological Innovation, Tourism and Development of the Autonomous City of Melilla, leads digital transformation and the attraction of technology companies in the city. It is the body responsible for promoting talent, entrepreneurship, innovation and the promotion of Melilla as a strategic destination for digital companies, startups and R&D&I initiatives. The DGIT coordinates and manages the iMelilla brand as a catalyst for this ecosystem.
Mission and Purpose
The DGIT's mission is to accompany local companies in their digital evolution, attract new technological investments, generate a favorable environment for innovation and internationally project Melilla's potential as a competitive and fiscally intelligent node within European territory.

We accompany Melilla companies in their innovation processes, promote entrepreneurship and energize the local ecosystem with mentoring and training programs.

Research, Development and Innovation
We promote and finance R&D&I projects, with special attention to emerging technologies (AI, blockchain, metaverse, Web3, NFTs, ML), in collaboration with other local, national and international institutions.

External Projection and Business Attraction
We promote Melilla's attractiveness as a destination for technology companies and the iGaming sector. We coordinate national and international promotion actions and facilitate company establishment with personalized support.

Building Technological Ecosystems
We promote a technology park, coworking centers, acceleration nodes, public-private collaboration networks and synergies between companies, universities, research centers and financial institutions.

Digital Training and Talent
We coordinate training initiatives in collaboration with UGR and UNED, and support the acquisition of ICT, programming, innovation and science skills for all ages, with special focus on promoting female STEM vocations.

Institutional and European Cooperation
We establish strategic alliances with State bodies, the European Union and other public and private entities to coordinate plans, programs and financing in matters of innovation, science and digitalization.
